Officials have issued yellow and amber weather advisories across south and central Germany for Tuesday, January 16,  due to strong winds and stormy weather. Red (severe) weather warnings have also been issued in areas around Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, with gale force winds of up to 130 km/h (80 mph) expected.

Airline group Lufthansa has warned of changes to their flight plans from Tuesday morning through to Thursday afternoon due to stormy conditions across Northern and Central Europe. Other associated transportation disruptions across Germany are possible.
