Thunderstorm alerts for much of eastern and central France August 9; flooding, transportation disruptions possible

The national weather service Météo France has issued orange storm alerts, the second-highest on a four-point scale, for much of the eastern and central areas of the country for Thursday, August 9. A total of 30 departments are covered by the alerts as of Thursday morning (local time). Flooding and strong winds - along with related air and rail disruptions, hazardous driving conditions, and power outages - are possible.
