IS cell issues threat against Georgian government August 6; in seperate incident, authorities detain IS suspect

On Monday, August 6, a Georgian-based terrorist cell with links to the Islamic State (IS) released a video threatening the Georgian government in retaliation for an anti-terrorism raid conducted in November 2017. The video was reportedly recorded in late July and sent to a Georgian media outlet. In a separate incident, Georgian police announced on August 6 that they had detained an individual with alleged links to IS. The suspect, arrested for illegal arms possession, had an IS flag as well as material issued by the terrorist organization.
