Warning

Event

Frankfurt International Airport (FRA)’s Terminal 1 was evacuated for several hours in the early afternoon of Tuesday, August 7 (local time), after an unauthorized person entered a secured zone. The security operation has now been completed and passengers are being allowed back into the building. Significant flight delays are likely in the coming hours, as well as increased waiting times at security checkpoints. Flight cancelations cannot be ruled out.

Additionally, the security response led to traffic disruptions in the vicinity of the airport. Lufthansa, the German national airline, has been advising travelers to arrive at the airport via train (S-Bahn).

Advice

Travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport and to contact their airlines for more information.
