On August 29 in the afternoon (15:00 local time), a 15-meter long single-deck ferry carrying 13 passengers travelling from Cheung Chau to Shek Kwu Chau sank. Another ferry came from Shek Kwu Chau to provide assistance to the passengers. No one was injured. According to initial investigation, high waves and a strong current were to blame for the incident.
