On Monday, August 6, eight buses were reportedly torched at a metro bus depot in the Eldorado Park neighborhood of Soweto (Gauteng province) at approximately 10:00 (local time). In a separate incident on Monday, three buses were burned in Khayelitsha (Western Cape province). No casualties were reported in either incident. It was not immediately clear why the buses were torched or whether there was a link between the two events.
