Cambodia: Planned power outages to affect parts of Phnom Penh and provinces of Kandal and Kampong Speu through May 12
Power outages to occur in parts of Phnom Penh and provinces of Kandal and Kampong Speu, Cambodia, through May 12 due to repair works.
Due to maintenance work, planned power outages will occur in parts of Phnom Penh, as well as Kandal and Kampong Speu provinces, through May 12. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge (EDC) has announced that electricity disruptions will occur on the following days:
May 9: In parts of Boeung Keng Kang, Meanchey, Por Sen Chey districts of Phnom Penh, 08:00-13:00; in parts of Chamkarmon, Chroy Changva, Russey Keo, Sen Sok districts of Phnom Penh, and in parts of Arey Ksat City, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00
May 10: In parts of Meanchey, Sen Sok districts of Phnom Penh, 08:00-13:00; in parts of Chbar Ampov, Por Sen Chey, Russey Keo districts of Phnom Penh, and in parts of Takhmao City, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00
May 11: In parts of Chamkarmon District of Phnom Penh, 08:00-13:00; in parts of Chbar Ampov, Por Sen Chey districts of Phnom Penh, 08:00-16:00
May 12: In parts of Meanchey District of Phnom Penh, 08:00-13:00; in parts of Kandal Stung, Kandal Province, and in parts of Kong Pisey and Samrong Tong districts, Kampong Speu Province, 08:00-16:00
Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.
Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
