Student protesters clashed with security forces and blocked traffic near the intersection of Calle 26 and Carrera 33 in Bogota, near the National University of Colombia (Universidad Nacional de Colombia), the evening of May 2. Participants reportedly hurled Molotov cocktails and rocks at police officers and set fire to parts of the TransMilenio station. Demonstrators are denouncing the election of a new rector of the university. Authorities have begun to redirect traffic in the affected area.
