France: Vueling cabin personnel to strike nationwide May 8-12

Unionized Vueling cabin crews to strike in France May 8-12. Significant flight disruptions possible.

Warning

Unionized cabin crew personnel employed by Vueling (VY) plan to strike across France May 8-12. The purpose of the action is to demand good-faith negotiations with management concerning a new enterprise-level labor agreement. The carrier expects that about 70 percent of its flights will operate normally May 8-9; labor leaders assert that the work stoppage will force the cancelation of 22 of the 23 Vueling flights having Paris-Orly (ORY)-based crews on May 8. The extent of disruptions for the remainder of the strike period remains unclear.

Air travel disruptions, including further cancelations, are likely for Vueling flights to or from France during the strike period. Picket protests are possible at airports where Vueling operates; heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near any demonstrations that take shape.

Reconfirm flight arrangements if booked to travel with Vueling during the strike period. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Avoid any strike-related protests that may occur.
