The CCOO, ANPE, CSIF, and UGT teachers' unions are demanding improved pay and working conditions including revisions to school hours. A previous demonstration April 22 attracted over ten thousand protesters; similar numbers are likely May 8. Union leaders plan a further strike and demonstration May 21.
