Officials are responding to the discovery of an unexploded WWII-era bomb in Schweinfurt, April 29. The device was found on the premises of a logistics company on Ernst-Sachs-Strasse. Local road closures in the affected area are implemented from 11:30. Police will ensure local evacuations within a 300 meters (0.19 miles) radius from 12:00. The following areas are affected:

  • Ernst-Sachs-Strasse: Between the Obere Weiden junction and the Hahnen Hügel Bridge intersection.

  • Hauptbahnhofstrasse: Between Wirsingstrasse and the entrance to the Kaufland car park.

  • Gustav-Heusinger-Strasse: Between the junction with Friedrich-Russ-Strasse and Hauptbahnhofstrasse.

  • Stresemannstrasse: Between Georg-Gademann-Strasse and Hauptbahnhofstrasse.

  • Wirsingstrasse: Between the junction with Georg-Gademann-Strasse and Hauptbahnhofstrasse.

  • Schweinfurt train station: Will be closed from 14:30.

Road closures and the rail traffic suspension will cause localized disruptions to road traffic, including to public transport. Lingering disruptions are likely as officials conclude operations and traffic returns to normal.
