A 2013 regulation mandating the separation of waste into compostable, recyclable, and non-recyclable bins is set to come into effect on July 8 in Mexico City. Garbage collectors will be instructed to leave unsorted trash on the street. Repeat violators will face fines ranging from MXN 800 to 12,000 (approximately USD 44-668).
