Mozambique: Violent winds in southern provinces June 23

The National Meteorology Institute (INAM) issues an alert for June 23, due to violent winds and rough seas in southern provinces

The National Meteorology Institute (INAM) issued an alert on Friday, June 23, warning of violent winds in the southern part of the country; gusts are expected to reach 70 km/h (43 mph). According to INAM, these winds will affect most of Maputo province as well as the extreme south of Gaza and Inhambane, particularly the districts of Bilene, Mandlakazi, Guijà, Chibuto, Zaval, Inharrime, Jangamo, and Xai-Xai. Rough seas with waves between 3.5 and 5.0 meters in height (115-165 ft) are also expected in the south.

All those present in affected areas are advised to monitor the situation and follow any instructions issued by local authorities.
