Malaysia: One-hour air space closures in Kuala Lumpur August 27-31

Airspace around Kuala Lumpur Airport (KUL) to be closed for one hour each morning August 27-31; 500 flights affected

Warning

Event

The airspace around Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and the nearby KLIA2 airport (served by low-cost airlines) will be closed for one hour each morning August 27-31. This is being done for safety reasons as the air force practices its air show ahead of Independence Day celebrations taking place on Friday, August 31. The closures will occur between 09:30 and 10:30 (local time) during this five-day period. Nearly 500 flights are expected to be affected. Delays and rescheduled flights are to be anticipated; cancelations cannot be ruled out.

The parade will be held in the city of Putrajaya, which is located south of the capital near the airports.

Advice

Travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flights and contact their airlines for more information.
